Professor Emeritus of Psychology Montclair State University I am often asked to write letters of recommendation in support of students' applications to graduate schools and jobs. If you have taken one of my courses, I will be happy to write a letter for you but I will need some help from you. To help me do a good job, I will need to receive the following. A NOTE containing: A REMINDER of: WHAT course(s) you took with me and WHEN you took them and what your GRADES were. A STATEMENT of your career goals. Some POINTS that you think should be EMPHASIZED and that make you special. 2. A listing or transcript of your GRADES in all courses. It does not have to be an official transcript... just something for me to refer-to if they should telephone me for more information. 3. The OFFICIAL RECOMMENDATION FORMS from the institution. Properly filled out and SIGNED by you. In most cases, YOU must sign these forms. 4. Stamped, addressed ENVELOPES for each form. 5. A note with the DEADLINES for each application so I can be sure to get them done on time. Thank you...
